Loreto House success story
by Laurie Bollig, Foundress
Stefany is a new mother and wife who started coming to Loreto House when she found out she was pregnant.  She felt the need to have support.  She chose to take two or three classes a week while pregnant, and a student UNT.  She saved her “Loreto House Dollars” to buy diapers, baby clothes, etc.  She did, and still does work hard at school to earn a degree in Social Services and she has a very giving heart for helping other young families.
Because of her dedication in taking so many of our classes, we offered her a baby shower.  Stefany was so appreciative and it helped her get ready for her baby.  When she left for her student break she got married to her sweetheart.  They are a really sweet family and very hard working.
Stefany says that she couldn’t have done it without Loreto House.
Thank You Jesus

To whom it may concern,

Loreto House has become like my second home. Becoming pregnant was a life changing experience; especially since I am a full-time student at the University of North Texas. I felt helpless, I had no support system put in place, especially since my family lives one hour and half away. Being my first pregnancy I had no idea how to care for a child; yet the finding of Loreto House helped me feel more confident in becoming a mom.

Loreto House educational program has taught me a range of things like what will I experience and how my baby develops in each trimester. The educational program at Loreto House is perfect, because it is not like one of those big group classes in which you just sit down and listen. At Loreto House, I was able to have one-on-one classes that included discussions, and handouts. Being able to discuss what I am being taught and how I will be putting it into action stays more in my memory. Some of the classes I have taken are:

  • Breastfeeding
  • Caring for an infant
  • Postpartum Stress
  • Labor and Delivery
  • Happiest baby on the block

These classes prepared me for what I felt helpless about. The volunteers at Loreto House are amazing and really supportive. I spend all my free time at there trying to learn all I can. I now feel more confident in becoming a mom. Since this was an unplanned pregnancy, my fiancé and I were not financially ready to have a baby, which caused a stress factor in my life, yet Loreto House has been able to assist with that too. For every class I took I received points and with those points I was able to get a crib and things such as diapers, wipes, and clothes.

Loreto House is an amazing place and I am highly thankful for everything they have done for me.
